Calumet Services Ltd was appointed to undertake the design, installation and commissioning of the mechanical services for the refurbishment and conversion of an existing Birmingham city centre building to create 159 high-quality residential apartments.
The existing building, previously comprising predominantly office accommodation with retail and restaurant spaces at the lower levels, was extensively refurbished and converted to provide a modern residential development comprising studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
Paradise View provides residents with a range of communal facilities, including co-working spaces, resident amenity areas and a roof terrace, within a prominent city centre location.
DELIVERED ON A DESIGN AND BUILD BASIS,
CALUMET PROVIDED A COMPREHENSIVE AND FULLY COORDINATED MECHANICAL SERVICES PACKAGE INCORPORATING:
- Complete domestic hot water and boosted cold water services serving the apartments, landlord areas and associated facilities.
- Central plant room installations and associated distribution systems.
- Individual Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems serving each apartment.
- Complete plumbing and sanitaryware installations throughout the apartments and communal amenity areas.
- Soil, waste and vent systems serving the apartments and associated facilities.
- VRV air conditioning and ventilation systems serving the communal and amenity areas.
- Comprehensive Building Management System (BMS) controls for monitoring and control of the mechanical services.
- Gas services installations serving the plant room areas and future-use retail units.
- Sprinkler systems serving the development.
- Water treatment of the completed mechanical services installations.
- Thermal insulation to associated pipework, ductwork and mechanical services.
- Full testing and commissioning of the installed systems.
The project demonstrates Calumet Services’ ability to deliver a large-scale design and build mechanical services package within the constraints of an existing building, successfully transforming former commercial accommodation into a high-quality residential development while integrating extensive new building services and infrastructure.
