Calumet Services Ltd was appointed to undertake the design, installation and commissioning of the complete mechanical services package for The Club at The Belfry, a comprehensive leisure facility incorporating swimming pools, gymnasium, exercise and dance studios, steam room, sauna, sports hall and changing facilities.
Delivered on a design and build basis, the project incorporated a wide range of mechanical building services, with particular emphasis on energy-efficient pool heating and hot water generation, environmental control, ventilation and the specialist requirements associated with swimming pool and leisure environments.
THE MECHANICAL SERVICES PACKAGE INCLUDED:
- Complete domestic hot and cold water services throughout the facility.
- Plumbing and sanitaryware installations serving changing rooms, toilets, showers and associated leisure areas.
- Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) LTHW systems providing energy-efficient heating to the swimming pools.
- Dedicated ASHP domestic hot water generation systems.
- VRV air conditioning systems providing heating and cooling to designated areas throughout the facility.
- Air Handling Units (AHUs) providing conditioned fresh air and environmental control.
- Complete ventilation and ductwork installations serving the leisure, changing, studio and ancillary spaces.
- Specialist swimming pool ventilation incorporating a fabric airsock distribution system to provide effective and even air distribution within the pool environment.
- Comprehensive Building Management System (BMS) controls providing monitoring and control of the mechanical services.
- Full testing and commissioning of the installed mechanical systems.
The project demonstrates Calumet Services’ ability to deliver a complex, fully coordinated design and build mechanical services solution, combining modern low-carbon technologies with the specialist ventilation, pool heating, controls and environmental systems required within a high-quality leisure facility.
